CHYRREL GWEN HUGHES
I came into this world in the middle of the summer, July 21, 1947, and came as a twin with my brother, Charles Len. We are the fifth and sixth children of Leonard and Chyrrel Hughes. I was raised in Mesquite, Nevada and graduated from Virgin Valley High School in 1965. I then attended Dixie College for one year then went on to Brigham Young University for one year. Then I attended Hollywood Beauty College in Provo, Utah. I worked for my sister, Gladys, in her beauty shop in Provo for a year and a half before being called to serve in the South Central States Mission (later changed to the Oklahoma Mission).
In October, 1971, I married Dahl D. Olsen, a young man I had met while serving my mission in Oklahoma. He had just started his career with the FBI. We were married in the St. George Temple and then headed back to Oklahoma where he was stationed. After a short time, we were transferred to Michigan where our first four children were born. Scott Ron, was born on January 19, 1973; then we had twin girls, Tamara Ann and Teresa Lynn, born October 13, 1974; then another son, Steven Charles was born on September 13, 1976. Our next son, David John, was born in Monterey, California on December 11, 1979. Then we moved to Texas for a few years and then back to California. A few years before Dahl's retirement, we decided to move to Mesquite so our children could grow up in a better enviornment.
Our family has been such a joy to us as they have grown and given us four grandchildren. I'm so proud of them and so very grateful for their goodness to me. Sadly, Dahl and I were divorced a few years ago and that has been a very hard challenge. But I have grown a lot closer to my Heavenly Father as I have tried to work through this.
I am now working for Edward Jones Investments. My job title is Branch Office Administrator. This has given me an opportunity to expand my knowledge and understanding of the world of investments. I guess you are never too old to learn!
I am now serving in the Stake Relief Society Presidency and teaching the Gospel Doctrine class in Sunday School.
