Twenty minutes after pushing my twin sister Gwen into the cold, cruel world, I followed on July 21, 1947 in St. George, Utah. The sixth and final child of Leonard and Chyrrel Hughes, I grew up in Mesquite, Nevada and graduated from Virgin Valley High School in 1965. During my first year of college at College of Southern Utah (now Southern Utah State University), my roommate and best friend shot me which cut my freshman year rather short. (There was nothing sinister about it, just an accident.) The following August I left for my mission to the Great Lakes. After a year at Ricks College upon my return, I transferred to BYU. In 1970 I enlisted in the US Navy after I was notified by my draft board that the Army was saving a place for me. While at BYU, I met my future wife and sweetheart Jo, a local Orem girl, and we were married in Orem, Utah in May of 1972. We were sealed as a family in the Swiss Temple in 1975. After 8 years in the Navy, I returned to BYU and finished my degree in Business Finance and went to work for Amoco Corporation (the oil company), where I stayed for the next 20 years working in their Human Resources department. After an early retirement with Amoco, I went to work for XO Communications, Inc. where I am now, also in Human Resources. We seem to be modern-day nomads. In the 30 years we have been married, we have lived in El Centro, CA, Naples, Italy, Norfolk, VA, Virginia Beach, VA, Orem, UT, Farmington, NM, Aurora, CO, Evanston, WY, (back to) Aurora, CO, Greenville, SC, Houston, TX, Gilbert, AZ, Dallas, TX, (back to) Gilbert, AZ, Higley, AZ, and now back to Dallas, TX. (Whew!) Our three children were born in three (3) different cities: Chris and Cindy are both married, but alas, we have no grandbabies. Chris and Kimberly live in Saratoga Springs (a suburb of Lehi, UT ?), and Cindy and Eric currently live in Iceland. Eric is in the US Air Force. Stacy, our baby, is at BYU studying to become a Physician Assistant. Life has been good to us, and we recognize the Lord as the source of all blessings.
